Sloppy Joes (crock pot or stovetop)
I've tried a lot of sloppy joes recipes over the years and these are my favorite combination of yummy and easy. I use my Instant Pot so that I'm only getting one dish dirty.
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup onion finely diced
1 16-oz. can tomato sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
8 hamburger buns
butter
salt and pepper to taste
Place the ground beef in a pan and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Cook for 6-8 minutes, breaking up the meat with a spatula.
Add the onion and cook for an addition 4-5 minutes.
Remove extra fat.
Place the beef and onion mixture in the slow cooker along with the tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder.
Cook on HIGH for 3 hours or LOW for 6 hours.
Toast buns by placing them under the broiler, then buttering them, or putting them on a buttered pan on the stove.
Spoon the meat onto the hamburger buns then serve.
